ESG Implementation Lead

Our client a large global asset manager, is looking for an ESG Implementation Lead in a newly created role to drive and lead the implementation of Responsible Investment requirements throughout the business.

The ESG Implementation Lead is vital in advancing the organisation's commitment to ESG principles through strategic development and operational execution. This position demands a blend of strategic foresight and hands-on operational skills, with a focus on ensuring regulatory compliance, improving reporting standards, and embedding ESG considerations across all business operations. The role calls for a dynamic individual with exemplary project management skills and the ability to foster collaborative efforts across various departments.
Indicative tasks:
Development of an operating model to deal with increasingly complex client solutions including;
Standardisation of guidelines and coding.
Supporting Investment guidelines and prospectus templates
Consulting and standardising coding infrastructure
Development of an operating model for systems (portfolio management/ engagement & Stewardship/Management information/ reporting).
firm-level ESG reporting (regulatory, optional, product categorisation)
fund-level reporting (standardised and bespoke)
effective internal management information (e.g. ESG related revenues)
Work with non-investment teams to better integrate ESG factors into their operating models and processes e.g. Risk/ Regulatory functions
Work with group to fulfil audit/risk requirements and increasingly interventionist governance structure
Interact with IT and help champion and steer ESG business requirements through IT landscape.
Interact with the Oversight function to coordinate Policy and procedure architecture and make sure policies have an effective way of transitioning to procedures.
Work with the offshore team to leverage the scalability of operating models devised.
Reporting to the Head of Responsible Investment.
Minimum Requirements:
At least 10 years of experience in operations, project management, or similar roles, specifically within Asset Management with a strong focus on ESG or sustainability.
Demonstrated experience in managing complex projects and operational change initiatives, with a preference for those focused on ESG.
Deep understanding of ESG frameworks, standards, and regulatory requirements
Strong leadership and interpersonal abilities, capable of influencing cross-departmental collaboration without direct authority.
Proficient analytical and problem-solving skills, with a detail-oriented approach.
Ability to navigate through ambiguity and lead projects to successful completion in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent communication skills, able to convey complex ESG concepts easily.
Strategic thinker with the ability to engage with operational details when necessary.
